THE WINNERS OF 2012 MURANO PRIZE
2012 Murano Prize
21 years since their last project, the Abate Zanetti school
is now the organiser for this year’s Murano Prize
, an historical Venetian event which awards Murano glass artwork.
The aim of the competition is to enhance and promote the artistic tradition of Murano glass, in order to bring together contemporary art and Murano glassmakers.
Thanks to this prize the Abate Zanetti Glass School
provides the chance for companies and workshops in Murano to gain national and international exposure in what is a crucial moment for Murano and its glass industry.
The initiative involves national and international designers, glassmakers from Murano and this year will also see the participation of all the schools in Murano
with a specific competition entitled Murano Junior Prize
The 2012 Murano Prize
wants to be a project involving all of the Murano community in order to bring together three generations: grandparents, parents and children, with a strong focus on the international perspective.
Today the Murano Abate Zanetti School of Glass
is a centre for research and experimentation in the subjects of innovative art and glass design, as well as the more traditional subjects: it is a place where cultural events take place and where a glass community is born celebrating Venice’s international vocation.
